I don't recall you saying whether this is SATA or not (I read your initial complaint and skimmed through the responses (all VERY good advice I might add), but have you checked to see if the BIOS is set to AHCI as well as RAID? If so, might I suggest you try setting it to Legacy (or whatever your BIOS calls it) I would offer step by step, but all BIOSes are not created equal and how you get to there depends on the BIOS.ģ. Ensure the cable to the drive is seated firmly and correctly at the drive and the motherboard.Ģ. Obviously you will need to download and burn these discs from another computer.ġ. Please do this and report back with the number of bad sectors on your hard drive (from seatools), the number of passes ran on your ram and the number of errors (in memtest). Expect to leave this test running all night (8+ hours). ![]() If any red text appears on the screen, it is a sure sign that something is wrong with your ram. The program will run a series of tests immediately. To test ram, find a memtest live cd (or almost any linux livecd. If it does, this may be a sign of further issues with that hard drive. The drive should not have more than 50 errors for the whole drive. Leave the computer for perhaps a few hours. If it does not say failed go in the basic tests menu and do a long dst. If it says "FAILED" then you know right off: bad hard drive. First check the bottom half of the screen to see if the drive has "passed SMART". When you run seatools, boot from the disc and click on your hard drive once the seatools program loads. You will have to change your boot order in your bios allow booting from cd before hard drive. The site may refer to the tool as 'seatools for dos'. Google seatools live cd and burn that from another computer (should be found only on ). Test for bad hard drive and bad ram first.
